The original Anglican churches are charged by the Continuing Anglicans with being greatly compromised by secular cultural standards and liberal theology. Kirkaldy of Grange, who espoused Mary's quarrel at the last hour, and held the Castle of Edinburgh in her behalf, was hanged at the Market Cross; and Maitland of Lethington, who had lent the aid of his powerful talents to the queen to bring Knox to the block, died, it is supposed, by his own hand, after living to witness the utter wreck of all Mary's interests in Scotland.

Cranmer collected the material from many sources; even the opening of Preface (above) was borrowed ( MacCulloch (a) 1996, p. 225). In my article "Don't Pay the Price of Counterfeit Forgiveness" (Moody Monthly, October 1985, pp. 106-108; http://www.joyfulheart.com/maturity/forgive.htm), I try to distinguish true forgiveness from its chameleons.

It is a solid, useful, global prayer book. For those who love the rich liturgical traditions of other prayerbooks, or those new to this style of praying, this resource is a treasure. The books they were referencing all point to it. Andrew Melville had to retire into England, and that intrepid champion off the scene, the Parliament (1584) overturned the independence of the Church. And the process was so political, for obvious reasons, that I fail to see how Christ Jesus can ever be political.
